Nature Wallpaper vs Nature
We have become accustomed to being in an electronic nature – starting from the famous Windows XP wallpaper (left picture). Seemingly relaxing natural scenes have increasingly drawn people into the electronic world, pushing the real nature further away. How can we make people re-examine this common 'electronic nature' and realize the difference between it and real nature?
DESIGN CONCEPT
Disappearing Wallpaper
Introduce an engaging interactive game, where user interactions transform a natural sky into a digitized landscape. As philosophical narratives emerge as user engages more, this is a moment to reflect on the balance between the digital interactions and the natural environment.
DIGITAL MODE
Digital World Simulation
In "Digital Mode," the game uses Windows blue as the main color theme, introducing common UI elements in a floating style to simulate the sensory experience of using electronic devices. Each icon emits a different UI sound, continuously adding to the chaos and noise of the interactive interface.
INTERACTIONS
Floating Sky Trash
The fragmented information we encounter daily reminds me of space debris: they float in the air, orbiting the Earth. Similarly, the cluttered UI elements on a computer desktop resemble garbage floating in a nature-themed wallpaper. I used ChatGPT to create a 'Drop Manager Script' in Unity, which allows these icons to be thrown onto the screen and float around when the player presses any key.
NATURE MODE
Natural World Simulation
The game simulates the relaxing and tranquil feelings brought by natural scenes using changing clouds, the movement of flocks of birds, and a brighter sky color. When players enter "Nature Mode," they will gradually hear the clear sounds of the wind and bird calls.
